My Name is Joseph Jargisa,
My father Basim was born in Iraq. Aged 35 he was sent to the UK to be educated as an engineer.
Whilst at university he met my mother Judith, they married, settled in Swansea and had me and my sister Serena. We are both married with children of our own.
It has never been safe enough for my father to return to Iraq so imagine when his sister called from Iraq to say she and her husband had a short visa to visit the UK. We were actually going to meet some of our family that we had never seen before.
They came to Swansea to stay for a week. My Aunt spoke a little English but my dad was able to translate. They told us how amazed they were at the freedom we had, and how beautiful the country was.
They had never seen the sea so we took them to Saunders Foot and packed in visits to Amroth, Tenby and Rhossili.
They were overjoyed and very emotional when I presented them with their Bob Book.
It was very hard saying goodbye as we became really close in the space of a week. But it helped knowing that they had those precious memories of our time together in the book we gave them.
